I'm a completely self-taught guitar player. I am very laid back and easy going. I enjoy teaching beginners and less advanced players. I love playing music more than anything and love to share that experience and feeling with anyone who wants to have it. Starting with the basics and moving on from there depending on what style or kind of music/guitar playing that each student enjoys.
Associate of Applied Science in Guitar Performance from the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma. I try to instruct the student in a way that fosters exploration of music and the guitar. I teach music theory as well as playing skills.
I had some formal guitar training in high school with mariachi and chord progressions as well as classical guitar training. I've taken my own guitar education and looked through learning multiple scales or building music or chord progressions and being able to see the ease of using the circle of fifths.
I will take any questions you may have or concerns about pieces of music that may be obstructing you from progressing farther as a musician. I will also meet the need of anyone who may not understand a piece of music and or exercise to it their current abilities.
Even though I'm new to teaching, I would try and base my teaching around what the student is hoping to get out of playing guitar. However at the same time as I would teach the student new music or songs, I would also be teaching them the theory and maybe a little bit of the history of the style and maybe what to think when playing a particular piece of music.
Musician who plays guitar and sings in a band! Also produce my own music and make beats for other artists. Experience in music production and collaborating with a diverse range of musicians.
When I've taught my friends and family about the guitar, it was always to show that making a beautiful sound isn't always about being fast or playing crazy. It's about loving what you hear. Everyone has they're own way they go about music, and they're all right. That being said, you don't want to develop habits that could hurt your hands, or even worse the guitar. Technique is important.
