*** Lesson Details *** Most students want to play the Guitar to play their favorite songs and I'm the same way. Music is something we carry with us in our hearts and minds. Students will learn what they wish to learn and work at a pace that is comfortable to them.
This 30-year veteran teacher, performer and recording artist can get you started as a beginner, or bring you to the next level as an intermediate or advanced player I have a Masters Degree, and have been performing and teaching for over 35 years. While performing is a delightful experience, I feel equally as enthused when teaching others and helping them grow in their own artistry.
I like to teach students using visual and physical methods. I encourage muscular exercises to increase flexibility and practice exercises that improve one's ability to read music. I have many beginner and intermediate level pieces for my students to practice based on what type of music they are interested in. I like to encourage students to expand their abilities and practice daily.
I'm an open-minded and optimistic person. Over the years I have developed a lot of my own teaching materials. I'm very flexible in the way I teach and I always try to find out what type of learners my students are so that I can design a personalized practice plan. The best musicians are not always the best teachers and the cheapest teachers are rarely the best teachers.
All students are individual and everyone learns in their own unique way. I use multiple methods of teaching (linguistic, visual, auditory) to reach students, so that no one is left behind. I also try to expose students to different types of music to keep them motivated.
My approach to teaching always starts with where the student is currently at with their musical journey. Understanding where notes on the fretboard are crucial for a beginner in order to understand the basic fundamentals of theory. It's important to grow on the individual's strengths.
I grew up in a family of teachers and one of the most important things I learned was that every student is different and therefore my teaching methods need to adapt to what is best for them, as opposed to expecting the student to fit a mold I have set for them.
I ensure that every student receives a fundamental foundation pertaining to the subject. While learning the basics, I advise that the student organizes their lessons and materials in a way that displays progress over time. With the proper knowledge, we can treat the heart of a subject with refinement in order to grasp its purpose and reason---whether its music or math.
Getting a sense of your experience and aspirations is helpful for me. This way I can encourage you to be inspired in what you wish to do on your musical journey. A typical lesson would include exercises, rhythm training, practicing chords and/or scales, and working on the current topic of interest.
I believe in a holistic learning environment that is based on the interests and goals of the individual. Having worked with full classes, small groups, and over 20 indivual students, I view teaching as a collaborative exercise, working with the individuals to create a unique an indidual plan that will create fantastic results.
I am Robert 'Skinny Bob' Barney. I teach several styles. Focus on technique, scales, chords, rhythm, and lead. Minor in classical guitar and use that for basis. Approach according to student's particular interest.
My teaching method is simple - every person and every student is different. What might work wonderfully as a learning tactic for one student, could be the absolute last resort for another. So, I work on a student-by-student basis, designing lesson plans that cater to the strengths and weaknesses of individuals. I have worked with students as young as four, up through adults.
I use chord charts and modern guitar tabs in order to teach students how to play popular music in the areas of folk, classic rock, and blues. From years of experience, I teach the best and most comfortable ways to play notes and switch quickly between chords.
My methodology is: work smarter, not harder. Technique is of the upmost importance to achieve musical goals without damage to the musician. I give lessons up to college level voice (especially audition cuts and musical theatre singing) and up to intermediate guitar/ukulele/piano. I will expect students to warm up before a lesson as well as with me at the beginning of each session.
I am deeply committed to education and course development. As a teacher and performer, critical listening and research have provided the analytical foundation for my instruction. I focus on educational quality and pedagogical need so students, both in private lessons and ensemble situations, can develop as musicians.
My main focus in my courses are for beginners and intermediate guitarists. Im going to teach you how intervals work together, how to play in scales and patterns that come with them, modes and much more! This is a course for those that can play guitar but want to really understand their instrument to the maximum level.
My method first is knowing all the abilities the person have to guide him/her to the right path. Knowing the level of the student is essential, that way I can teach the things that are missing. I'm a very patient guy and I will work until you learn what you want.
I graduated Berklee College of Music (summa cum laude) - guitar performance. During my studies at Berklee every semester I earned placement at Dean's List and 10 March 2016 I also received John LaPorta Award for outstanding achievement in my major.
Just like my profile photo indicates, my name is Scott and I am a degreed guitar performer, composer and a singer/songwriter who's played various styles and types of guitars for 25+ years. I offer private guitar lessons to beginners and some intermediate level players between grades 2-8. Lessons are customized to meet the needs of each student.
I teach beginner/intermediate guitarists/vocalists. For beginner guitarists/vocalists, lessons start with learning correct posture/ergonomics, along with basic musical fundamentals (tempo, pitch, rhythm, etc.). Besides first lesson basics, I make accommodations and lesson plans around where students wish to take the musical journey! I also teach Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced Songwriters.
My teaching lessons are based upon the individual or individual's understanding of certain topics in Music. If there is no understanding, I'll start from the ground up. I can teach beginner-advanced level guitar, and being 21, my audience could be anyone young or old looking to learn more about the guitar.
My teaching method is to build confidence in the student by drawing the correct answers out of them and to encourage asking questions. At the same time I have with how to take notes better, how to study better, and also how build strong study habits.
I teach by finding the most simple and logical path from brain to hands, then introduce practice patterns to reinforce and of course there has to be some jam time afterward to secure new knowledge. Understanding the students method of learning and adapting is key.
I develop each student's curriculum based on their unique goals. I always encourage an interdisciplinary course of study, as I've found that cross-training is the best way to improve as a musician. I am able to teach rock, metal, blues, funk, jazz, classical and everything in between. Additionally I can teach transcribing, composition and improvisation.
I believe anyone can learn to play music! I did not grow up in a musical household but have adopted techniques through my years of education and touring to make music accessible to beginners and advanced students.
I'm an adaptive teacher, whatever level my student's knowledge is in the given field, together we assess goals and tangible milestones and I put together a game plan specific to us. Each student is different, so that's how we approach every class.
As a guitar instructor my method is watch and mimic. I put a lot of emphasis on timing and practicing changing chords. This is important because changing chords must be done quickly. I have been playing guitar for over 40 years. I also sing along to the guitar.
Because everyone learns differently, my teaching method is tailored to each student's needs and way of learning. However my method includes technique, theory, ear training, music listening, performance, composition, and music copying. Our first lesson is used to asses each student's skill level and to begin building a custom learning path.
I have been told I am a pretty good guitarist, and I know a lot of the logistics and music theory around playing instruments. I like to start from the basic chords and rock and roll riffs and move on to more advanced things like improvising solos.
I am a graduate of the University of Arizona. I have received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. I am also a certified teacher in the state of Texas, as well as Arizona. My certification is for Kindergarten through High School, all levels of music. I have a certification to teach general classes at the Elementary Level K-5th grade from Sam Houston University.
