I am a home schooled student who has recently moved on to college, looking to get a degree in English. I believe in the Socratic method, and in the potential of every student to be fantastic. My teaching method is mostly inventive, helping the student to enjoy study as much as I do.
A teaching method is something that can and should be extremely variable, as is every student's learning style; this is why I adjust MY teaching method accordingly. The method in which I employ is solely based on that of what I mentioned above: the learning style of the student.
My teaching method is to present the students with concrete details on a new subject while asking what sticks out to them. It is also important to have the students work environment be as comfortable as possible. Teaching how to accomplish new tasks is also important to students.
I approach language in terms of what you want to do with it and how you can achieve that particular purpose, writing a business report obviously has a different approach from writing a novel or reading poetry. You may use language as you wish though it's best that you become of what other people reasonably expect when you communicate with them.
I use a range of techniques to build vocabulary, improve grammar, and refine pronunciation for my English Language Learners. I also have many creative skills in getting students to tap into their own creativity to produce academic and striking compositions.
I am a Biochemistry major on the pre-med track, but I have always loved reading and writing growing up, and this passion paved the way to my career as a peer tutor in English. I have been tutoring for 5 semesters in San Jose City College, and while that may seem like a short time, I have encountered different peers that have enriched that experience.
My teaching methodology is to listen carefully to each student to determine his or her needs and then come up with a plan which addresses those needs. I assume that that most, if not all, will be recent immigrants to the USA who want to become proficient in the use of the English language so they can do better in university or in whatever jobs they find themselves.
