I love to use creativity to engage all students. I use materials that are relevant and interesting to those I work with while making connections to topics/interests/hobbies of students. I love incorporating great books and texts into my lessons.
I worked in the motion picture industry for over 25 years in both creative and business development capacities. My strengths are development (of a narrative), story structure, grammar, spelling and using the English language effectively and efficiently. Currently a sophomore in college studying biology in the doctorate of physical therapy program. Engaged and interested in helping students maximize their potential in math/biology related subjects, as well as college prep exams(SAT,ACT).
I teach with differentiation in mind. All students have their own learning style, therefore I teach using variety. IXL interactive is a wonderful tool I highly recommend for students to partake in to build language art skills. I feel strongly on helping students build on reading comprehension. Spelling games and worksheets are used so students have fun while learning.
I teach based on my student's weaknesses and wishes. I explore the most effective learning methods with the student and constantly provide positive feedback. I pay much attention to detail and explain processes rather than just stating information so the student can understand and develop a thinking process.
My teaching method for SAT prep is a lot of targeted practice with real exam questions. There is a pattern and once students can discern the patterns, they are a lot more successful. I also believe in using test-taking strategies in order to eliminate and critically think of alternate ways to solve problems.
My teaching methodology is simple. I don’t stop until my students learn and succeed. However that works for an individual is what I will do to help. I believe that every student is capable of learning.
When I teach English writing, my fundamental goal is for the students to master the different forms of rhetoric, while adhering to the conventional rules of English including grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, syntax and the use of appropriate tones for the intended audience of their written works.
I recently relocated with my husband from Washington DC to Hoboken NJ. I was a public school special education teacher in DC for 9 years and was given the highest rating of "Highly Effective." I am able to tutor students in all their reading/writing needs.
I have two education related master's degrees. The second is in ESL/Bilingual Education. I also have a CELTA certificate I received while living in Spain. With personalized lessons, I can help you achieve whatever English goals you have, whether it's improving reading writing, grammar, or speaking. Students are active participants in my classes, not passive observers.
I teach students at all levels, ranging from junior students up to university and adult education. I mostly work with students who need some guidance, but who are also motivated to improve their language proficiency. I am here to help you and to help you reach your goal. My students mostly describe me as very friendly and patient, but at the same time I expect you to try your best.

I have a positive attitude, I am a very empathetic and a solution-oriented person. I greet each day, each staff member, each parent and each student with a genuine smile and a desire to begin the exciting journey that happens every day in education. Each person I come in contact with has their own set of skills and weaknesses.

I am a college student looking to help other students with English and Reading.
My teaching method, especially when it comes to tutoring, is based on the student. The first step is determining what a student's strengths already are, then determining their areas of growth. Students learn through practice, so a tutoring session may include a mini lesson, maybe a model, some guided practice and then some independent work with time for a debrief after.
I teach to the "whole student." While I work hard to teach my students reading and writing skills, I also value students' interests and unique backgrounds. A student becomes more engaged in a lesson when he/she can relate to the content on a more personal level. Because of this, I am constantly looking for ways to keep my students engaged and motivated to learn according to what interests them.
