I'm a 25 year old entrepreneur fresh out of the financial world and looking to make a switch to education. I have experience teaching middle school to high school math, but I'm also hoping to teach music as well! I recognize everyone learns differently, at various speeds and methods.
My learning style is lecture-based, so my teaching style falls into that category as well. While I have no problem conforming to a student's preferred method of learning. Having gotten out of high school a little over a year ago, I would be a big help to those struggling with high school chemistry and mathematics, especially AP courses.
Having been a private tutor for most of my academic career in mathematics and related courses, I have found I really enjoy helping others understand content in a one-to-one atmosphere. For me, helping students understand the why's and how's, rather than the what's, is really what motivates them to want to understand better the course.
My prefer lecture method but it depends on situation. Sometimes, i use slides for teaching but i usually do teaching and then giving classwork so that i will have time to take care of all students if they can master the topic or not.
I have given lessons to students of all ages, from pre-k students to adults. As such, my techniques and methods are extremely flexible and depend on the student and subject. Generally, however, the goal of each session I have with a student is for them to walk away with the most they possibly can.
Hello, my name is Jaclyn Barber and I am a full-time tutor for students in the Austin area. Throughout the past 4 years, I have tutored elementary, middle school, and high school students. Austin, TX. area AP Calculus teacher can tutor in subjects from Algebra I thru Calculus BC. Can meet in person if possible or thru video/phone chat. Certified in secondary mathematics as well as an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Business.
I am Chemical Engineering graduate with a minor in Mathematics. I tutor students up to Algebra 2. My techniques and methods are based on assessing and filling in gaps, providing a firm foundation for students and building up to current material. Some students miss key concepts in school that leave them struggling for years to come.
How I teach will depend on the needs of my students and how I measure a student's success is based on two scales - growth and mastery. I try to get to know my students and from there help them grow their strengths and overcome their challenges....mastery occurs naturally once a trusting respectful relationship has been established.
My teaching method is allowing the student to do most of the work themselves. I will work out some examples to help them understand the concept then work with them step by step to solve problems. I believe that this is a helpful way for students to learn the material.
My last position was an assistance Manager for projects and Engineering Services. I handled over 40+ people working for me, I have the knowledge and techniques to motivate people and get the best out of them to achieve there goals.
I have found that each student, regardless of age (middle school, high school or even post-secondary) is a unique person who has their own learning style. The key to successful learning via tutoring is to identify that style and use it motivate the student to gain knowledge. There are two major components to my teaching style: whenever possible: 1.
I have been a tutor for many years. I am very knowledgeable and very patient. All my students are very grateful to me and they all got very good scores in exams and got into the best universities and best jobs. I will try my best to know what is the problem of the student and use my knowledge to solve the problem step by step.
My teaching method is through online Skype with notes, interactive visualization displays, constructive encouragement. I base my classes on participation, quizzes, and homework.
I would like to point out that I am an educator who chose mathematics as my discipline. I not only understand how mathematics can be applied to different fields of study, but I focus on understanding. The type of understanding that will allow students to expand their own knowledge using mathematics as a predictive and consistent tool.
I give lessons to college and high-school students. I am happy to work with students that just need a little extra help as well as top achievers who wish to broaden their understanding of a topic. I have been bored myself by professors who drone on through slideshows that haven't changed in over 10 years. Education should be an immersive, multifaceted experience.
I like to make the students to understand the materials instead of making them memorizing it. I will teach concept with example problems and leave a little time for students to ask questions. I will also provide additional practice problems and review materials before next lecture.
Make math understandable. Previously, as a social worker at a local charter school, I consistently demonstrated the capability to manage multiple competing priorities with high performing results. This experience enabled me to develop my professional use of self. I would communicate frequently to ensure alignment with company goals and expectations.
My teaching methodology is catering to the student's needs, once I acquire the way my student is best at receiving information, I'm able to craft the best learning environment for them. I have books from my past classes that I have stored that will serve as assistance to teaching my students.
My teaching method varies dependent on the student. The first lesson is usually to observe the student’s different strategies and where their struggles occur, and I adapt my methods to play on the student’s strengths. In many cases I implement Singapore math, a method proven to dramatically increase math comprehension.
I work with students from elementary school to college. I aim to work at the student's pace, and teach by asking questions to ensure true comprehension.
I received my bachelors of science in physics with some experience as a high school teacher and astrophysics research. I am a very approachable and knowledgeable teacher who can explain math and physics in various methods to facilitate understanding and retention.
Prior to each lesson, I develop plans for topics to cover with the student. However, if the student needs assistance on homework or understanding material covered in the classroom, I prioritize the student's needs first. In addition, I give each student a variety of practice questions to enhance their skills.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Education with a minor in Mathematics. I work with the individual student to meet their needs. I believe the only bad question is the one they did not get an answer to because they did not ask it.
I teach very explicitly. I give concrete examples, model, guide, and allow students to practice. I believe early intervention is key, let me help your child improve their math skills. Please contact me if you are seeking an experienced math teacher for primary grades.
I believe that traditional lectures achieve very little without student-led discussion and group work with their peers. Everyone, including the teacher, is a student on some level, and it is important to have a two-way communication when tackling a new topic. I prefer to work with students to help them learn to teach themselves, rather than simply teach them.
I am a graduate of the Science Academy at LBJ (now LASA) and MIT. I have a wide variety of experience with subject area math and mathematics competitions, having represented Texas at national contests three times. My other areas of strength include statistics and history. I have a doctoreate in biostatistics from UNC Chapel Hill.
I believe in getting to know my students strengths and weaknesses and use this knowledge to design lessons that includes repetition.
The teacher’s primary role is to coach and facilitate student learning and overall comprehension of material, and to measure student learning through both formal and informal forms of assessment
My teaching methodology is quite simple and straightforward, I use everyday life events to better explain the material to students.
