I am a sophomore at Ohio State pursing a Math Education degree. My dream job is to teach high school math. I believe math is the hardest subject for everyone. It takes a good teacher to like math. I desire for every student to understand that they are able to be good at math, but it takes some guidance.
I typically ask students what they are confused about, and attempt to teach them the fundamental concepts behind what they don't understand. After, I like to readdress the initial question and have students explain their understanding back to me. Essentially, I try to get to the bottom of why a student is misunderstanding a concept.
I try to meet the student where they are at. If the student feels like they need structure I can provide structure. If the student wants to guide the process and just has some questions about some problems I'll do just that. The first session I will always have a quick discussion of what the student is looking for and how I can best assist them.
My teaching methodology is based off of inquiry. I work with students questions and where they are struggling. It is individualized and is based off the needs of individual students. It is fine tuned to give students exactly what they need.
I taught middle and high school students mathematics and science in international schools in Dubai and now I am a substitute teacher in Columbus, Ohio. I include whiteboard and power point presentations, with lots of practice work. At present, I tutor geometry to a few students, college algebra and geometry to some OSU students and ACT prep.
For the past 10 years, I have taught middle school math and science. I love teaching...especially when my students begin to understand the material! I teach best by getting to know my students. By figuring out how they learn best, I can tailor my teaching and help them be successful quickly.
I'm a math teacher through and through! :) I love encouraging students toward understanding.

I believe students have the ability and the right to direct their own education. I begin lessons by learning about your goals and the unique challenges you face. Then we'll try several techniques and methods of instruction until we find a few that achieve your goals and allow you to stay engaged.
I am a very meticulous, responsible, and determined tutor. I make sure that my student understands every part of the topic thoroughly before moving on. I personalize my lessons based on the student, whether that means using candy to help with math or magnets and whiteboards to help with spelling and writing.
I tutor all areas of mathematics covered at the junior high and high school level. I focus on understanding fundamentals and building math skills from that base rather than memorization.
