My only teaching method is that I only care about developing the most natural technique and musicality. I don’t stick to any “methods” because teaching piano requires the most flexible and individual approach while keeping the highest standards of education no matter the age or current level of the students.
My lesson plans are geared toward the individual interests of each student. However, each student will learn from me how to play music with and without sheet music. Often sheet music can be unavailable to the student, and show I give them the tools to play music by ear.
When it comes to music, I strongly believe that the student should love the music that is listening, practicing and performing. This way, they can focus and learn the music by heart and not just memory. Music is another language, another way to express words and thoughts, thus the musician should be able to relate, understand and communicate through music.
Piano chose me at the age of 7 and I quickly began lessons through Merit School of Music located in Chicago. Summers were dedicated to music studies (music theory) at Merit School of Music. Gradually, I progressed as a musician and was then accepted into Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra during high school where I was the pianist in a Chamber Ensemble.
I am interested in teaching beginners - intermediate pianists. My methodology varies based on the student's personality and age group but usually involves technical work, pieces, interesting information to sneak in some theory, activities, and games with younger students.
I typically give lessons to beginner, intermediate and advanced students. I can teach both classical piano and classical voice/choral singing, as well as music theory and composition. I have been a musician for 14 years and will graduate in May from Columbia College Chicago with a BA in Music Composition.
