Hello everyone! My teaching career began in Chicago, Illinois, first teaching privately out of my home, then for the YMCA and other small music schools. I then began teaching private guitar lessons at Northwestern University while completing my masters degree there in classical guitar performance. After graduation I built a large student base at Sherwood at Columbia College Chicago.
I approach each concept by breaking it down into its smallest components, emphasizing the practical applications of each step before moving on. Students can expect a solid foundation in both theory and technique. I offer lessons in both classical and jazz piano. I also teach music theory and ear training.
I'm yishu. Now in San Francisco State university sophomore year, major in piano. I willing to teach piano. I had passed 8 grade level of the piano in china. As a teacher, I will make the student or class fun.
I gauge what level the student is and see how he/she learns best. I then devise fun lessons for the students and ensure that the student learns the fundamentals, which I believe provide the foundation for playing any kind of music on the piano.
My teaching methods are unique, because I approach every student individually. I believe there is no set approach to every individual and only through thorough examination of each student’s needs and learning skills we can find a way to make them learn something in a positive and loving way.
My teaching method is focused in developing at the same time technical skills, sights reading, playing chamber music and doing theory exercises. I like to have a different teaching plan for each of my students. Usually after few lessons I can assess what my student needs and how to practice with them to make them a great musician.
Music learning contributes to brain and emotional development, it strengthens memory and coordination skills. My approach to teaching focuses on engaging students and exciting them about the different possibilities music can offer.
My BA in music is from from UC Berkeley, dept of music and my MA from SFSU. I have also had further studies in Paris, France for several years. I have been performing and teaching in the SF Bay,Area for over 25 years. Besides being a pianist, I am also a harpist and flutist and a vocal coach.
Graduate, NYC HS of Performing Arts, Oberlin Conservatory (Bachelor of Music/Peformance/Pedagogy) New York University, Master of Arts. I teach piano to Advanced beginners, and students of Intermediate and Advanced levels with a focus on tone production, phrasing, interpretation, along with theory and harmony framing. I have a passion for the piano and its Classical repertoire.
Learn to play like Billy Joel :) Start playing Beatles...first lesson!! Learn Solo playing, accompaniment, keyboard player in band, Advanced Jazz/Blues Improvisation.
I am a high school graduate who for four years went to Oakland School for the Arts. At this school, I was part of the vocal emphasis which allowed me to take 1 year of song writing, 3 years worth of classes in music theory, and 4 years of musical solo rep (which is learning how to sing in all different types of genres.)well as one year worth of music history.
