I have two degrees in studio art- a Bachelor's of fine Art and a Masters in Fine Art. I teach Costume Design, Drawing, Digital Photography, 2&3 Dimensional Design, Art Appreciation, 1850's to 21 st Century Art. I start with the formal elements of art and principles of Design and move into mixed-media experimentation.
I like to start with the basics, such as the elements and principles of art along with reviewing and testing the materials. From there I like to develop a project with the student, were we can relate the artwork to different artists, art movements and techniques.
I focus the way I teach on how each individual learns; whether they are more towards visual representations or hands-on interactions. Everything I provide, knowledge-wise, is based on personal experience throughout my career. I like to base lessons off of what the student would like to create so that the information they intake helps broaden their possibilities.
I am a self & University taught in arts & studied many different mediums, but I gravitate towards the more craftier or folksy side of the arts spectrum I would say. I can teach just about any media or medium a student is interested in at any level in art, but my personal style is more in the abstract range.
I’m a very hands on teacher. I like to demonstrate techniques, but also provide very extensive handouts with my workshops because I want the students to be successful and it helps for the to recall and reproduce what they learn. The handouts also allow me flexibility in my classes to see who is catching on quickly and who needs more one on one support.

I have my High School Diploma, I went to college for 2 years and afterwards could not financially afford it. The degree I was studying was for Fire Science- Associates Degree. I work hard, I am motivated to help others be successful and to teach them that it really isn't as hard as you think it may be.
My teaching methods for art are an "untaught" method that can often incorporate a spiritual aspect . With this approach, there is no right or wrong with art. Instead, we embark in personal exploration and create freely. These lessons are for everyone as art is for everyone! No art experience is necessary, only a desire to explore and create.
I can give lessons to anyone of any age. The basics for art can be easily understood by anyone and even younger children can be taught easily. I begin with evaluations to see what the students already know and can do. Then from there I ask what they want and where they want to get to. We work on those things and I'll even critique their work like universities do.

I find that students learn best by instruction, observation, and active application, combined. As such, I make a point to balance lectures with lots of hands-on demonstrations and real-world application, particularly when teaching technical processes. Students also learn by practice and by making mistakes.
