I teach Spanish from a culture-based context. Language and culture are so inherently linked and learning about culture within the context of language is essential to gaining proficiency.
I used Nuevo Avance system in my classes. It is a sistem that is focused on the four skills to learn the language: Writing, speaking, listening and reading, focused on the skills the student need to strenghten or to learn.
I focus on the communicative approach. In my classes, imagine we'll have coffee; my goal is that you learn a language in context.
My teaching method is to constantly reassure and encourage my students to practice and further themselves in a skill that will serve them well for the rest of their lives. Refining ones accent and furthering ones vocabulary are absolutely key in the pursuit of learning to be understood and accurately express ones self in a foreign language.
My style of teaching is fun, and I generally like to incorporate games and fun activities during my lessons. I like to have an interactive relationship with my students, wherein they can dictate what they want and need out of our lessons.
My methodology depends of the level. For the basic level I work more vocabulary and grammar with the students, but always with the communicative approach. For the high levels we work more the oral expression.
I like to approach language learning through culture and story telling. I think that becoming engaged in a story or sparking a curiosity for another culture can make language learning not only more accessible, but it can create an environment in which the student will learn without being a passive listener or reader.
I am fluent in Spanish and can understand a little bit of French and Italian. I like to teach through a combination of fun activities and games. I believe oral speaking is the key to learning a language. When my students start to zone out I am very at good at getting them back on track and engaged. I believe I am a great motivator and have a very high success rate.
I have given lessons to students in both middle and high school. I am willing to assist with college level as well. My structure is based on the student's needs - whether he or she requie assistance with homework, comfortability speaking the language, or studying for a test I am available to assist.
I like to teach by talking, speaking with students is the key for learning a language. There are a lot of people that can write and understand a foreign language, but they can´t speak it, because they don not practice it.
I use visual learning techniques (ie. color coding and pictures ) to help students retain complex information. My last student constantly got F's in Spanish, but once she came to me, she started receiving A's and B's on her tests.
First and foremost I try to understand the goals of each individual student I tutor, and help him or her accomplish those goals as quickly and easily as possible. I try to incorporate listening, reading, writing and speaking into my lessons and to keep the student having fun. I teach many students with different learning styles, and I try to tutor each student in a way that works for them.
My approach to language learning is to dive right in, with the right supports and scaffolds. I create lessons and learning opportunities that set my students up with the right tools to address the task. I believe that incorporating real world conversation is the best and most applicable way to learn vocabulary and enjoy a language.
I have utilized the socratic method during my tenure as an educator, however I also believe in repetition is the key to learning any language. Furthermore, I also like using different media outlets such as movies, tv shows, books, and comics to draw interest in the language and make the learning process more enjoyable.
I usually go with the Student-Centered approach to learning to coach and help the student achieve comprehension of the material and make sure I get an accurate measure of the students' learning experience. I have tutored third, fourth and fifth grade.
I adapt my classes to the student needs. They need to be fun, interactive and my main goal is using the language at all times. I have a lot of experience tutoring so I have different books, programs that I have develop to teach according to the student needs and age.
My teaching method is always asking what they want to learn before I show up, this way I can prepare myself for the lesson and refresh any forgotten knowledge, I also like to make some activities this way the knowledge is not flat as usual and it becomes fun and easy to remember
We use the methodology that fits the interests of the student. Without discarding traditional media (writing, reading, speaking, listening), we seek meaningful, fun and permanent learning. 20.5 years of experience let us to identify learning styles according to individual differences.
Teaching methods catered to your learning style.
My teaching philosophy is that teaching should be based on real-life communicative learning situations that are meaningful to the student. I believe that also includes tailoring and personalizing instruction to the individual student. When learning Spanish, you will have useful tools and strategies to use in between sessions to improve your fluency and meet your goals.
Through my studies and teaching experience at Amherst Regional High School, I was able to develop reasoning, critical thinking and reflection qualities needed to become an effective teacher.
I approach each student differently. Before I started focusing on International Studies and Spanish, I student taught. I know that each student is different, and I want to help you grow individually. I will answer all of your questions to the best of my ability, and help you in any way that I can.
My goal is to always have students speak first, then listen, write, and read. To learn a language communication is vital, and the learning of the language will progress as you learn the rest in order to have full acquisition of the language you want to learn.
I believe that every student is able to learn the task at hand when provided with the appropriate strategies, support, and skills necessary. As a teacher I have always pride myself on finding the strategies and/or teaching techniques that would best help my students become and feel successful.
I initiate each lesson by primarily seeing where my student currently stands. This allows me to focus on needs that may be more in need of work than covering repetitive content the student may not need as much attention on.
I am not at all traditional, and would like to be friends with my students and peers. I do not discriminate between who I would like to teach in regard to age, degree, level, class, etc. I am positive, determined, and passionate about helping others.
I have an eclectic approach to teaching languages primarily using a communicative approach, total physical response strategies attending to their multiple intelligences. I believe in a student-centered classroom fostering a climate of trust so that students feel they can take risks in the language and be successful learners with a rich learning experience.
When you teach somebody anything that that person love is the best way.
My philosophy of teaching is learning for life. I have proven that cheerful and dynamic classes greatly motivate students to produce the better result. I like to start my classes teaching sentences and expressions that will allow you defend yourself in the everyday situations. This increases interest and student's satisfaction in being able to communicate in the Spanish Language.
As I mentioned before, I am a Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine student at Texas A&M University. I have taught others the basics of Spanish in a non-professional setting. I do not have experiences in teaching students in a professional setting but I do think that I am capable of teaching others Spanish. I am fluent Spanish and English speaker.
