I like to be kind and patient when teaching, as learning another language can be pretty difficult, and I believe in trying to make learning interesting and fun however I can. I am not a native German speaker and therefore do not know everything, however I know I am proficient and experienced in the German language and teach whatever I do know.
I believe in learning-by-doing in conversation, enhanced through essential vocabulary exercises and as-simple-as-possible grammar explanations. I will teach you the effective and quick-learning methods I applied while studying. For pronunciation, we will listen to and analyze German media, movies, songs. Learning is done best when it's fun - and that is what I'm aiming at.
I teach by engaging students not only in grammar exercises but also in conversations about life and literature. I can provide as much or as little structure as the student(s) want, and I am happy to tailor my lessons to individual needs.
My teaching method really depends on the German skills the individual student has acquired so far - if any - and on the student's goal and age. Due to my experience I prefer to teach German to the younger crowd, ranging from preschool through high school. If you are an adult who wants to learn German as a hobby or for a vacation in Germany, I would also love to teach you.
I either use a conservative approach when it comes to language learning how you can find it in the most language learning books, but I rather prefer to find out more of the background why students want to learn a language and what are their motivations and interests, what gives a more effective way to approach to teach a language.
My language lessons are positive learning experiences, based on these methodologies: 1- Total Physical Response (TPR) stresses the importance of aural comprehension. IT works by having the student respond to simple commands. It may include a bit of acting for both the learner and the teacher.
My teaching methods are very practical. I like having fun while learning, as well as being efficient at the same time. Starting from scratch, we will learn the basics and build on top of that or we will start out wherever you are in the progression of becoming fluent in German.
Since we will work one-on-one (or in a very small group) the plan is tailor-made to fit your needs and aims. My number one asset is your motivation. People tell me that I motivate them so this will for sure be part of the plan. My method is predicated on - what level you want to reach in German - and which kind(s) of learner you are (cognitive, talkative, auditive...
Learning should be personal to the individual or individuals in a group. I believe in connecting myself and the content to the learner based on needs and interests. Over the last 20 years, I have proven that everyone can learn a different language and that new languages are doorways to new experiences and growth.
My teaching is highly individualized, this means I determine the needs, interests, objectives, and time frame of the students. Then I prepare a study plan to balance needs, wants, schedules, and objectives. The lessons are based on this "master plan" so that both student and teacher have a working tool which can, of course, be adjusted if needed.
I try to assess students individually, measure their strength and weaknesses and tailor lessons accordingly. I have tutored students in Grade levels K through 6th Grade. Not all children learn the same way, and it is important for the teacher and tutor, to find out how the child learns, and then use various approaches within the scope of their abilities to break down subjects.
