My goal is to center instruction around the needs of my students to develop their understanding of the concepts. By creating lessons targeted around student learning, I can ensure their progress. The student will obtain the skill of critical thinking and understanding. Concepts will be built upon creative thinking and understanding.
If I evaluate a student’s educational needs early, problematic events can be prevented.
To be an effective educator I will need to evaluate the needs of the students and deliver my lessons based on those needs. To ensure understanding of the content, I will assess the knowledge of the learner. The student should understand the content knowledge and be able to build upon the concept learned. To integrate new material into my teaching I will attend workshops for professional development. The newest and most relevant information must be taught to students entering my classroom.
I have been working with students in an elementary setting for 6 years. I have worked in inclusion and self-contained classrooms. Students I have had the pleasure of working with have had a range of abilities. I have done research on vocabulary development using context clues with a 2nd grade classroom including twenty-three students. Students included in this study showed improvement in vocabulary using context clues over a period of six weeks documented in my research.
I have a Master's in Teaching from Southeastern Louisiana University as well as certified to teach grades 1-5. I have worked in Livingston Parish as a paraprofessional and as a substitute teacher with grades K-5.
