Math Ph.D. student with three years of tutoring experience gives virtual (or in person if in Corvallis area!) tutoring lessons!

Methodology

I like to approach teaching by guiding students, rather than spewing a lot of words at them. I prefer the Socratic method of guiding by questioning. This can feel intimidating to students at times, but I encourage an atmosphere where it's okay to make mistakes (believe me, I make many, many mistakes every day as a mathematician!). I want students to believe in themselves and their mathematical abilities.

Background

I'm currently working on my Ph.D. in mathematics at Oregon State University. While studying math, I also teach and assist in teaching lower-level mathematics courses. I have three years of experience in tutoring or teaching math (from pre-calculus to calculus and linear algebra and some upper-level math courses too -- I love me some analysis!).
