I like to encourage students to use their own thinking to develop an understanding of a topic. I prefer to guide students to the correct answer rather than present them with it. This way, students comprehend topics in their own terms.
I was a co-teacher for the AP Chemistry course at my school and gave in-class attention and after-school tutoring to students that needed supplementary instruction. Said students had drastically improved test scores and began participating in class more often. For some, my help gave them the confidence to try their hand at the AP Chemistry Exam.
