I like to focus on developing the student's study skills and confidence in the subject material. I work with the student on homework assignments, in-class work, test review, old exams, and study sessions to help determine the best method of learning for the individual student. I very much enjoy watching the student find the knowledge and understanding within themselves and I strive to help them become a better pupil. Science and math are very tricky subjects for many students and require using a different part of the brain. I like to work with students to develop this way of thinking so they are able to eventually tackle more advanced applications on their own.
I am currently a phD candidate in medicinal synthetic chemistry at the University of Loyola Chicago. I also have three years of experience working as a teacher. I have taught college-level students in organic and general chemistry as well as general biology. These courses involved both a lecture and a lab component.
