Music/percussion teacher with 20 years experience, Masters degree, in Meridian, MS. I have taught first grade through graduate level students.

Methodology

My basic methodology is to teach music through performance. There will always be scales and exercises to work on, but making good use of etudes and musical excerpts makes it more fun. There are numerous method books for the various percussion instruments that are laid out very well and keep it interesting.

Background

I have been teaching since 1996 in a variety of capacities. I have taught individual and group lessons and taught band and orchestra in elementary, middle, and high school and college. Many of my students have gained acceptance to performing arts schools and received high marks at adjudicated festivals. My performing background includes orchestra/band percussion, drum set, hand drums, marimba/vibes/xylophone, and steel drums in venues all over the world.
