Through a communicative approach that is consistent with a pedagogy committed to recognizing and valuing the experience and knowledge that students bring to class, my courses incorporate a wide range of activities designed to allow them to articulate their own ideas in Spanish. I see my courses as an opportunity to build a supportive learning community around the common goal of communicating in a foreign language.
I am a Spanish PhD candidate at the University of Michigan, where I have taught classes in the Elementary Language Program, introductory courses to Hispanic literature and culture, and self-designed advanced courses, such as “Cartographies of Violence in Contemporary Latin American Cinema.” I also have experience teaching English as a second language in Colombia.
