I believe in the philosophy of Richard Feynman: to paraphrase, to really know something is to be able to reduce it to its most simple, core concepts. Practically, that means I believe that understanding of material is preferred to rote memorization or utilization of formulas. I aim to have the pupil be able to familiarize themselves with the subject matter to a degree such that they feel confident teaching the concepts learned to others. As such, any student, no matter the age or experience, is welcome, and we can get to learning together!
I have a bachelor's degree in science, with honors, in Neuroscience from Brown University. I also graduated with a master's degree in Biotechnology. While there, I performed research within the field of Brain-computer interfacing technologies. I have an extensive science background in the natural and health sciences. As far as teaching experience goes, I am a recognized volunteer at the Liberty Science Center wherein I served as a floor content educator. My job was to make sure that the subject matter in each exhibition could be effectively relayed to a broad and diverse audience; grade-schoolers and knowledgeable adults alike walked away having learned something.
