My teaching method is individual based, starting out with a quick dialogue about past experience with Shakespeare and heightened text, and delving into further topics such as gender, sexuality, mental illness. I do not push or pry for vulnerability, and allow each student to unfold through humor and play using games and theatre-based activities to incite meaningful dialogue. I focus on the individual's needs - whether it be to deepen a craft or facilitate safe-techniques for self-inquiry. The ideal students should be of middle- or high-school age, and able to devote an hour a week to one-on-one mentoring/ lessons.
I'm a therapeutic mentor with two years of experience working with youth in and out of the classroom, working on Shakespeare text to open conversation about Gender/ Sexuality, and Emotional Wellness. I trained at The Hartt School for 4 years, and Shakespeare & Company for 4 months as both an actor and teacher. I currently work with students 4 - 12 as my day job, using both theatre and art to start dialogue about each student's needs in coping with anxiety and fear on a daily basis.
If in person, the student and I would practice in Socrates Sculpture Park/ Astoria Park nearby, closer to the trees and East River (weather permitting).
