My teaching method is to use conversation to improve fluency in the language. If the student does not have enough of the language for conversation, we will use English and gradually add Spanish as the student learns. The student has the choice to work with me through a textbook I like to use that simplifies the language or bring coursework from a class that they may have questions about. My Master's degree is in ESL (English as a second language), but some of my methods for teaching English carry over into my Spanish lessons. I do recognize that there are aspects that must vary due to the differences in the two languages.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Hope College. Some of my credits for that degree came from a semester studying in Seville, Spain where I took classes such as literature, history, and journalism. I also interacted with my host family and watched movies and TV shows in Spanish. I have been teaching languages since 2014, and although my Master's degree is in ESL (English as a second language), I have had some students take Spanish lessons from me.
My cancelation policy is effective for new students. Students are allowed to cancel twice in a row at no charge. Life happens! However, I will ask for payment in the event of a third cancelation.
I was told about Erin by my penfriend when I mentioned that I needed an English teacher. I studied English with Erin by Skype about 2 years I guess. And I'm so glad that I found her. She is very good teacher. The thing I really like about her is her flexibility. She always tried to adapt her lessons to my skills and my needs. The other important thing for me is her openness. She wasn't just a teacher. We could talk about different things. And that was great practice for me. Now I have English speaking friends in my area, in Russia, and that's the reason why I don't take her lessons anymore. But I strongly recommend Erin to anyone who wants a professional teacher and good friend.
I have had classes with Erinn for more than three years. I met her through an acquaintance, so I was already half convinced that she is a trustworthy person. I needed conversational practice of English as I teach it as a foreign language at a university. Throughout all these years Erinn has been a very supportive and efficient tutor who provided me with a lot of modern colloquial expressions and up-to-date vocabulary. Besides focusing on different aspects of the language we also discussed methodology, and Erinn proved to be quite professional and interested in that area. Above all Erinn has become a real friend whom I can trust my most sacred thoughts and find comfort and consolation. I'm happy to have weekly sessions with her and cannot imagine my life without them.
Erin is a great teacher because she knows how to teach and how to get her students into the subject.
