I typically review the material with students, and then work through problems. Usually, I have my own notes that outline the material, and create my own problem sets and solutions for students to work through either on their own or with me. I encourage students to work through problems step by step, with helpful guidance along the way, as opposed to simply showing how it's done.
I received my PhD in chemistry from Georgetown University in 2015, and spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow in organic chemistry at MIT. I currently am a practicing organic chemist at a pharmaceutical company in Boston. I have tutored many students in both general chemistry and organic, including students in need of a refresher, some that need significant help, and others preparing for chemistry olympiads!
