I have a very pedagogical approach, first giving in depth theory using practical examples to reinforce the concepts. I then assign numerous problems of increasing degree of difficulty and carefully analyze the responses to find out areas which need further work. I then go over these with the students until they realize the deficiencies. I never leave a topic without first having mastered the previous one. I have very high expectations and am really looking to teach students what it is needed to excel, not just to pass.
I am into my second year of completing a PhD in physics, having graduated a BS in Physics at FAU with a GPA of 3.85. I also am a retired MD, having practiced for 30 years. I have been tutoring high school and university physics and mathematics for many years, but most recently as a TA. I have tutored over 50 students on a one-to-one basis in the last 5 years at a level from AP science to engineering statics and have had uniformly excellent results and high accolades.
I have degrees from Florida Atlantic University, The University of Manchester (England) and the University of St. Andrews (Scotland). I plan to go into physics education upon completion of my current degree.
I require individual sessions to be at least 2 hours, as I have found a single hour to be insufficient to accomplish what is necessary. I have no upper limit, but typically do not go beyond three hours-although exceptionally I have done as much as 5-6 hours per session.
