I start by thoroughly exploring student goals, background, and past successful and unsuccessful learning experiences. From this, I can use a wide range of methods in both world language and content area teaching, drawn from my training and experience in both special and gifted education, working with adults and non-traditional students and college teaching. In languages I prefer an Immersive proficiency-based approach, including for ancient languages, but I can also work with grammar-focused methods. I focus on building skills that cut across subjects, like writing, literacy, problem solving, and study skills and executive functioning.
