I believe in nailing the basics—but that means more than just memorization. You can only understand the fundamentals of a topic when that topic fundamentally engages with you. Why replicate the uniformity of the classroom in a one-on-one tutoring session?
I just graduated from the University of Toronto in Philosophy and Literature & Critical Theory. I'm especially interested in German idealism, psychoanalysis, critical theory (especially Benjamin and Adorno), Heidegger and deconstruction, and contemporary political theory. I've tutored students in French, English, philosophy and writing. On the side, I've designed and edited a major university literary journal, done research in childhood psychosocial development, and picked up a few languages.
