Portland State Professor Ready to Help in Humanities, Social Sciences and Writing!

Methodology

Diversity of thought by way of diversity of thinkers is at the center of my teaching methodology. I am very fortunate to have highly diverse classrooms at PSU, and combined with my constant search for a culturally diverse body of thought, I can achieve a classroom environment & pedagogy that is multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-gendered. In addition, I place high value in making connections between disciplines, which often makes it easier for students to understand complex concepts and raises their thinking to that of a "higher order".

Background

I have a master's in psychology and a bachelor's in human development. I have taught public speaking/rhetoric at Portland State University since 2015. I am also an adjunct professor of philosophy with Global Ministries University. In addition I have taught human development at Warner Pacific University and was an assistant instructor of communication at PSU. In June 2018, I acquired a TEFL/TESOL certificate from International TEFL Academy. I have developed a method for improving writing, memory and musical aptitude that is similar to the "close readings" we do in philosophy. I am happy to share this with students along with instruction/tutoring in most subjects in the humanities and social sciences, and ESL.
