Premedical student in Bryn Mawr, PA, with experience in literacy, Chemistry, writing and mathematics tutoring. Able to Assist in test prep, resume writing, and college essay.

Methodology

Before I do anything, I ask the pupil a lot of questions about how they would solve a problem and why. I believe that allowing a student to work through a problem and explain what they understand helps solidify techniques. I've found that students are often surprised about what they actually know about problem solving and can often figure the problem out by themselves. I think this is especially helpful for test-prep and concept mastery. However, if my student is struggling to grasp a concept I try and explain the concept in different ways, whether it's setting up a problem differently, drawing pictures, etc.

Background

I am a Post-baccalaureate Premedical student that recently graduated with a B.A. from Carleton College and am preparing for medical school. I have experience tutoring in middle and high school level math (up to precalculus) and elementary literacy. I can also assist with writing (including college essay, resumes, and cover letters) and basic/intro chemistry.
