I believe that truly anyone can learn anything with the right teacher and method of teaching. There are many ways to learn a subject, and each individual has a unique method of learning that works best for them. I try to find the best way to approach a topic according to individual needs and ways of learning, and if one way doesn't work, we will simply try another! No question is stupid, and no student is incapable of learning as long as they are willing to put in some effort and attention. I work towards comprehension and retention rather than rote memorization, so that what is learned will stay learned after the test or course is finished.
I am a Neuroscience student with a passion for teaching and 5 years of experience in private tutoring of all ages. I graduated high school with a 3.97 GPA, 35 on the ACT and 1490 on the SAT, 5's and one 4 on my AP classes, and membership in French and Latin Honors Societies all four years. I have taken Voice and Piano, as well as been involved in various choirs since kindergarten, including membership for two years in a row in my state's Honors Chorus.
My rate is $20 an hour, but I am willing to work with you at a lower price if you feel that you cannot afford that due to financial difficulties. If you wish for a shorter lesson, I charge proportionately to how long we work (e.g. $10 for 30 minutes, $15 for 45). I generally do not work for more than two hours in a row, as I believe this fatigues both the student and myself past the point of efficient learning, but I am willing to make exceptions as needed. If you have to cancel at any time (even 5 minutes before your lesson), no worries, but I ask for a $5 cancellation fee.
Attended a specialized charter school for middle school, where I was chosen to receive the Teaching Award by my teachers and faculty after teaching several classes in different subjects for extra credit. Started my own tutoring/teaching business through the homeschool community and neighborhood forums, expanding to teaching students from public and private schools in my hometown area. Began in 7th grade (June of 2014) and continued all the way through high school. Have taught/tutored in French, Math, English, Latin, ACT/SAT prep, Piano. Graduated from a competitive college preparatory private school in May of 2019. Never had an unsatisfied client.
Elle is extremely bright, hardworking, and patient as a teacher! She is very good with helping people of all ages, she is kind and is willing to do whatever she can to make sure that her students not only have practice with the topics she goes over, but that they fully understand them, and can do them on their own--without any hesitation or struggle. She finds creative ways to help her students understand the material if they don't understand one way of teaching. Would highly recommend!
Elle is outstanding! She tutored our 8th grade son in math because he needed an extra challenge. Our son was gifted in math, but his school did not provide the acceleration to keep him motivated.
Elle kept learning fun and engaging. Our son always looked forward to time with her. The results of these sessions were seen in his PSAT math score, the highest in this class. We highly recommend Elle!
Elle is a great tutor, she gives great explanations for math problems, she explained each problem in a different way that helped me understand them. Elle helped me pass my algebra class.
