I strive to set every student up for success by ensuring a safe and comfortable learning environment. This includes catering to a variety of different learning styles and challenges. I enjoy getting to know each of my clients on a personal level, so that I know how to best support them in our work together.
Last year, I worked for a nonprofit organization that provided college counseling and SAT prep resources to children in underprivileged communities. I currently work as a writing tutor at Loyola Marymount University's Academic Resource Center, while pursuing a major in Psychology as well as minors in English and Women's & Gender Studies.

Lua is unbelievably patient, kind, and compassionate. Whenever a student struggles to understand a concept, Lua is prepared to explain the subject in a different light. She successfully helps students understand nuanced and complex concepts in the most straightforward terms. She's an amazing teacher, and easily one of my favorite teachers!!
I have been Lua's supervisor in her role as a university peer writing tutor for the past year. Lua is knowledgeable about academic writing, and she is an excellent listener, which allows her to work well with a variety of learners. I strongly recommend Lua!
Lua makes for a fantastic tutor. As a Lead Tutor at Loyola Marymount University, I have personally supervised Lua during a tutoring session and have been blown away by how committed she is to ensuring that her students leave the session with a plan and concrete understanding of what steps to take in order to finish their assignment and make it strong. Lua is quick to adapt to her students needs, and ensures that her students feel more confident in their abilities as a writer and learner by the time the session is over. Lua has constantly impressed me with her skills as a tutor and her lovely personality. I strongly recommend that you choose Lua for this position, as I am sure that she will continue to display her wonderful work as a tutor.
