I tend to lead the class by modeling and showing how to perform certain tasks and activities. For example, if I am teaching literature analysis to a student, I walk them through one example by showing them how to do it, then, the student, following my lead, will do it on his own.
I use templates, sentence starters, and other other scaffolding techniques to help English Language Learners.
I was born and live in Brooklyn, New York.
I hold an English degree from a university in New York City. I also minored in Secondary English Education (6-12th grade) and have experience working with students at the high school level. I am fluent in Spanish and taught English as a Second Language. The first thing that I do when I teach new students is assessing what they know, pinpoint areas where a student struggles the most, and devise a lesson plan that aims to rectify the problem.
I must express this and say that I am a new educator as I have recently graduated and have minimal experience. I will say that I have a deep passion for teaching and will do everything in order to increase your English skills.
