It depends on the student - if the student is more independent, I will lay off and nudge them in the right direction if they get lost in a problem. If the student needs more hands-on help, I will work through the whole problem with them, making sure they understand each step as we go along. The most important part is that the student understands the concepts behind the problem steps and why each step occurs.
I am a quality food chemist working in the industry for 10 months. I received my BS in Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2018, where I was a Teaching Assistant for General Chemistry II and II Lab (CHEM 104 and 105). General chemistry concepts include acid/base, titrations, thermochemistry, kinetics, electrochemistry, Molecular Orbital Theory, and basic organic chemistry. I taught around 80 students a semester (around 20 students per section - 4 sections total).
