I am a seasoned educator with over twenty years of experience. I would very much love to offer lessons to middle and high school students in history and social studies. My areas of interest include American History, twentieth century Europe, and Latin American studies.
I prefer the lecture type of lesson, but I also rely a great deal on literature. My lessons are very straightforward, and I am open to opinions (as long as you can back them up with evidence).
I am very fair: I mean what I say, and I say what I mean.
I have been in the classroom for twenty-one years, teaching sixth to eighth grades. I have also worked as a CPR/First Aid teacher for adults, a drama teacher for elementary grades, and a high school coach.
In total, I have probably taught well over two thousand students. I am sure there are more, but I am being conservative.
My students have achieved decent grades under my tutelage, but I would prefer that they really develop an interest and passion in history. One has become a teacher because of me, which is the greatest of all compliments and results.
I have an associate's degree in liberal arts, a bachelor's degree in history, teacher certification, and I am currently completing a master's degree program.
I have been a social studies teacher pretty exclusively since 1993. I have worked in a private school, an urban public school, and a wealth suburban public school.
