Writing, reading, vocabulary and grammar are the points which I choose to focus on when willing to help someone develop their English skills. Being very well accustomed to writing any type of essays, from academic/formal, to informal ones, I usually help students create a general structure of the essay from which they further develop their ideas based on the given topics. For the improvement of a student's vocabulary, as well as listening skills, I have many ideas of exercises which have proven to be efficient in previous cases. Lastly, I consider grammar to be vital at any moment, for anyone, and I recommend diverse, fun grammar tests after each lesson.
I am a senior student at George Mason University. Being fluent in four languages, I know how difficult it can be to perfect yourself in a language such as English. Having had the ambition to achieve an academic level in this language, I was later on able to help friends from European and Asian countries to overcome the challenges they were facing in English. With my help and guidance, they have become fluent English speakers, had passed exams such as IELTS and Cambridge with good scores, and were further accepted in universities in the U.S, as well as in Europe.
I needed help in a government class, and I had to find someone to guide me quick. I needed to use the theories I had studied and to create a strategy for one of my term papers. I knew Alia and I also knew how good she is as a student. I told her how stressed I was about the paper and she offered to help me. She looked over the material I had and quickly explained it to me, helped me find ideas and build a strategy. I am not good with words, and she helped me with that as well. She made better use of my material than I did and taught me how to focus on creating. I can only recommend her with all my heart, she saved me! She is very focused, very serious, hard working and ambitious, but also very creative. She is able to write essays on the spot, to come up with ideas about any topic, and helps you use your own brain to do so. I truly recommend her.
I met Alia a while ago at school; she was my classmate in my Philosophy class (history of philosophy, with focus on philosophy of politics and literature). I was struggling a lot with the material, and the exams seemed so hard. She tutored me for a few hours, she explained everything to me in a clear way, and I learned how to actually study the material (I even began to see it as interesting). She is so passionate about this field of studies, and knows so much about it. Aside from everything mentioned, she is very smart, serious and is an amazing tutor. She has a lot of patience and wants to help everyone. I was not the only one to be helped by her in that class, but I know for sure that I had passed it with her help.
What I’d have to say about Alia is that although she is still very young, she is among the best tutors I have encountered. At only 21, she is among the few to be a perfectionist and very ambitious. She combines a few essential traits: she has deep knowledge in the field, has a pedagogical talent (in that she understands people very well and knows how to help them), and has a lot of empathy with anyone she is tutoring/helping. She has helped me in passing the IELTS as well as the TOEFL exams. I highly recommend her.
