« I have known Christina for a few years. She is an extraordinary friend, and though I have not been a student of hers, I know she is a fantastic teacher. Christina is caring and compassionate, and she works extremely hard to make sure her students have the materials they need to succeed. She spends several many hours every day preparing for her classes, and she sees her students as individuals who need specialized educational plans. Each of her students receives equal care and attention, whether she has two students or twenty. I highly recommend Christina as a tutor because she is a stellar teacher. Spanish professor offering comprehensive lessons in Pennsylvania with over 10 years experience

Methodology

I primarily teach elementary Spanish, but I have taught intermediate Spanish privately. I have also taught elementary age children as well.

I believe in an equal balance between oral & written proficiency. In my classes, we do oral exercises every day, as well as traditional writing exercises. I always ask my students questions to be certain that they understand the material. They are required to do an individual oral exam with me, as well as write a 1-2 page paper, to demonstrate their growth and proficiency through the semester. I also vary the activities during class, so I am not always lecturing.

Background

I am a Spanish professor at a local college, where i have been teaching for over 10 years. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Penn State University. I received my Master's Degree from University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I lived in Salamanca, Spain for 6 months.

I had Profesor Ferraldo for Spanish 1 and 2 in college. At first, I only planned on taking Spanish 1 but after the first semester, I fell in love with the language from her ability to teach so well! The homework was such a big help and she can explain almost anything that you need help with in class or over an email! Her examples are great. Also, she is excellent at providing encouragement and getting you over the occasional humps you run into while trying to learn a new language! I honestly can say I can read Spanish and get a general idea or listen to a conversation and understand a majority of it just from two semesters of her classes. As long as you are willing to put in the time she will be there right by your side cheering you on and helping as best as she can!

Ms. Ferraldo taught me Spanish I and Spanish II during my time in college, and they were by far my favorite classes! I loved her teaching style, and was really excited when I found out that she was going to be my Spanish II instructor. The projects she had us do were fun and informative, and her classes lead to me becoming a linguist in the Army! Her grading was fair, and she taught in a way that left me eager to learn more.
