I am a psychology major with a special ed. Minor. I have taught for almost ten years at public schools tutoring centers and a hospital setting for minors. I started out with behavior disorders self contained and continued to work with them . I am certified to teach all subjects and am allowed to teach k-12. I am interested in special ed. but am willing to take a regular ed job. I enjoy being in the classroom and love watching my children move on to the next grade. I am always ready to go that extra mile to make sure a child succeeds. Please look over my resume and you will see how much I would love to be in the classroom. Because I have taught special ed. my teaching methods are consistent and have a lot of ingenuity. I am required to follow I.E.P. 's. so I have to incorporate goals and objectives for three or four age groups. However, besides classwork and participation homework is also required.
I have taught about 350 students. I have been giving lessons since my student teaching in 1990. I feel like the classroom is home to me. I am proud of the fact that I have had a 100 per cent graduation rate. My principal,Dr. Jay Arnold came to me and said you have done such a good job graduating the students that we do not have enough here for a sp. ed. Class . They are transferring you to another school. I was heartbroken but proud. These were children that the teacher before me walked out at lunch and never came back. I had 15 in a self contained class and they all made it through after being with me. A paraprofessional told me I had "IT". If it means the ability to control a classroom and show children you care about their future then I'm glad I have it. I respect them and they respect me .
I would only charge travel money if it is far such as over 50 miles.
