University professor offering tutoring in English (reading, writing, test prep, etc.) to all ages in Berks County

Methodology

Each person that I work with has a different skill set and different needs. Given my unique education, I'm able to work across subjects aiding students as they develop their skills in: reading, writing, comprehension and analysis of literature, essay writing, preparing and presenting reports, oral communication, test preparation, writing college admission essays, preparing for college admission interviews, creative writing, and writing resumes and cover letters. Ultimately, it is important for me to get to know each person that I work with, to ensure that they feel comfortable in the learning process with me as their tutor, and to personalize a tutoring plan for them to optimize their learning potential. I see myself not as a keeper of knowledge, but rather, as a facilitator of learning, wherein I am able to provide the tools that my students need in order for them to master the skills that they seek to learn.

Background

I am a professor at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania where I currently teach classes for the Communication Studies department. I have Ph.D. in Communication Studies and a minor in English from Louisiana State University. Additionally, I have taught classes in English and Communication Studies at Louisiana State University (2010-2015), Baton Rouge Community College (2015-2016), and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania (2016-present). Beyond the parameters of my full-time work as a professor, I have also worked as an English tutor privately and in conjunction with local universities since 2008.

Rates

Transportation Fee : $1
Rate for 5 hours of lessons : $1
Rate for 10 hours of lessons : $1

Details

This rate applies to all students EXCEPT students desiring help with the research or writing of a thesis or dissertation in order to complete a Master's degree or Doctoral degree. If you are a graduate student working on a thesis or dissertation, please be aware that I charge $50/hour in exchange for tutoring related to these types of projects. The rate increase occurs because I am required to do more labor in order to attend to the specialized knowledges written about in thesis and dissertation projects and because attending to the format of these types of projects also requires additional labor and knowledge of the tutor.
