My teaching experience is varied as I trained in the FE sector and then taught various subjects from KS3, 4 &5 in secondary schools. Whilst undertaking my PGCE (PCE) I was on placement at Matthew Bolton College in Birmingham. Whilst on placement I taught various sessions ranging from Entry 1 to Level 3.
Since becoming qualified, I have taught a range of subjects; English Language and Literature, Media, Cooking, Psychology, Sociology, Child Development and Health and Social Care. I have demonstrated that I am an adaptable individual, who can engage learners and meet the requirements of the exam board to deliver to a range of learners. I have shown that I am capable of working with a vast array of learners and ensuring that my sessions are adaptable to each cohort and individual.
I understand and recognise each learner is an individual who has their own thoughts and opinions, and that each learner has differing academic needs, and different life experiences, which should be acknowledged by tutors. I recognise that in order for a class to run smoothly, tutors have to address and explain the contents of the session before moving onto individual needs. I have proven knowledge of health & safety practices having worked inline within the schools and colleges’ child and adult protection policies and procedure.
I have developed excellent communication skills, both written and oral with a diverse range of students, colleagues and managers at work. I have empowered learners to aim for their fullest potential, and work to the best of their ability, through my skills in motivating even the least interested learners. I have supported the department that I am teaching in to manage the needs of the learners. I believe that my various teaching roles have proven that I am a dedicated, adaptable and motivated individual, who is capable of teaching various subjects. I have also demonstrated that I can manage my own workload and provide constructive feedback to the learners which I teach.
I have been teaching for 5 years, 3 of those years were as an unqualified teacher. My class sizes have ranged between 8 to 28 learners, depending on the setting of the establishment that I have taught in. I have taught various learners from KS2-5, and have taught Entry to Level 3 courses.
I have established myself as a teacher who can provide excellent guidance to low level learners and engage the schema of high level learners, thus, enabling both sets of learners work to the best of their ability.
