I like to approach my lessons by getting to know my students and speak with their families and teachers to really see their strengths and weaknesses to help best guide my lessons. Wilson has a very systematic approach for reading/ spelling instruction which I have seen work. Having a strong routine and instructional plan is key to student success.
I am a Drexel University graduate with a BS in elementary education, and an MS in teaching, learning and curriculum with a Wilson Reading concentration. I have been working with the Wilson program for a year and was able to move a struggling dyslexic 4th grade student who was reading at 1st grade level to 3rd grade level with 7 months of instruction. I have experience teaching all subjects in the elementary classroom, with a year of student teaching in 1st grade and assistant teaching in 3rd grade.
