I begin by listening to what my students and understanding their challenges from their perspective. Success is a product of trust, commitment, and joy of learning. A compassionate teaching approach and chances to experience small successes along the way help students gain confidence to do well.
I have an MA in history and I am passionate about making it accessible through great writing and engaging stories. I help students to express themselves and to enjoy learning. I sparked a love for history in my college classroom and among my own children. I am a contributing author in a forthcoming college textbook, a collection of parent narratives about parenting a child with a disability. I love languages and am conversationally proficient in two Indian languages and study Sanskrit for fun. I love to share my knowledge, skills, and curiosity through tutoring.
