My teaching methodology employs the "concrete, pictorial, abstract" theory of mathematics education. In the first stage of learning students must have hands on or real life experiences with the content. This is followed by pictorial stage of learning where students are introduced to various models, drawings and diagrams to help them develop a deeply conceptual understanding of the content. Finally, in the third stage, the students will learn the alogrithm's that will allow them to solve problems in the abstract, accurately and efficiently.
I have been teaching classrooms of students and tutoring individuals and small groups for 20 years. I have worked with thousands of students in that time span and my students have enjoyed tremendous success in mathematics achievement.
My students were always among the highest achieving students on statewide and national tests.
Through my learning center I have worked with individuals and small groups to eradicate their math anxiety and help them to become successful math students in their classrooms.
