My teaching style is very fun, loose, and personal. I love taking piles of theory, technique, and boring details and boiling them down, distilling them into their purest, most memorable form. That's my day job - photo and video journalism and explainers. But don't let the theory scare you away - we're going to get our hands dirty pretty quickly.
Every big, complicated concept is, at its heart, conceptually very simple. So that's where we start each class: one big concept per week. Distilled, concentrated conceptual knowledge is delivered through simple "aha!" exercises and demonstrations that unlock the creative potential in my students' minds. The keys to the kingdom in hand, they walk away feeling empowered and eager to re-discover the world around them with fresh eyes. Trust me, you'll never see it the same again.
Whether you shoot digital or film, I want to walk you through the whole creative process, from top to bottom, A to Z, taking the shot to sharing it with the world. Your needs and interests drive the process - I just bring the expertise.
Hey! Hi. Hello there.
My name is Andrew. I’m a photographer and videographer by trade, and a vintage camera enthusiast by night. I’m a swiss army knife of image-creation skills, and I love adding new skills and ideas to the toolkit. Whether it’s through stills or video, my favorite part of the process is capturing those fleeting moments, the flash of a quick smile, or the recognition in the eyes of two old friends who have fallen out of touch. I like to think my images are intuitive and engaged in the moment.
I do not provide supplies, although I can certainly recommend them
